GameZone celebrates Alas skills and purpose with rebranded GameZone Tour

GameZone has evolved to new heights from one season to another. Raising the stakes, adding more fun, providing entertainment for good, and keeping its competitive nature as it continues to inspire others in the playing community. 

On March 8, GameZone concluded its new and improved tournament series, the GameZone Tour: Tongits Plus Champions Cup Season 4, at the PNB Events Hall in Pasay City. Offline stages of the tournament began on March 5, with the top 36 players competing to reach the top 9 and earn a spot in the semifinals. 

The season featured a staggering ₱10 million prize pool with the prestigious golden trophy on the line. From 36 players, the game went on until only 3 of the best players who dominated their respective tables remained: Ahrold Tubig, Gina Bengco, and Pilar Fernandez.

The final match was set as the top 3 finalists faced off in a series of grueling rounds, with Tubig leading in the first half, ahead of Bengco and Fernandez. The match showcased each player’s individual skills and knowledge of the game as they battled it out.

During the halftime break, the players were asked about their overall experience and game plan leading into the second half of the final. Tubig demonstrated his sportsmanship, wishing his fellow competitors good luck while noting that he had been playing on the GameZone app for 2 years.

Bengco, who was in second place, said she has been playing on the GameZone app for 3 years. Fernandez, the oldest of the three, shared that she has been playing the game with traditional playing cards since she was a teenager. She also shared a motivational tip for everyone who wants to join the tournament: “Try and try until you succeed.”

Exciting new gameplay was also added to the overall GameZone experience, including the Glory Ring Tournament, a side tournament running alongside the main game. It consisted of 60 players with the golden ring and prize at stake, with Renato Flores winning the tourney debut.

The Games and Amusement Board was present during the event, reinforcing its Responsible Gaming message while showing support for the tournament. 

Also present was the President of Gamemaster Integrated Inc, Rafael Jasper Vicencio, who went live for the Gamemaster Talks segment to discuss how DigiPlus and GameZone lead the industry in innovation and creation of immersive experiences for its players.

He also shared that, through strict KYC (know your customer) checks, self-exclusion, and responsible gaming reminders, the brand has helped build a safe playing environment for its players.

Adding more to the fun with a purpose were celebrities Awra Briguela, Yskaela Fujimoto, and Christine Samson, who were all present for a celebrity match for a cause hosted by comedian and actor Negi. Their winnings were donated to the beneficiaries of DigiPlus Foundation’s FutureSmart Scholars, LoveYourself Inc., and Friends of Saint Mary MacKillop Inc.

The grants were presented by the Executive Director of DigiPlus Foundation, Angela Camins-Wieneke. It was DigiPlus and GameZone’s way of extending their efforts to reach various organizations and aid in line with their respective focus and missions.

As the second half of the match went on, the audience cheered for their favorite player to win, each with their own family and friends in attendance. At the same time, some streamed on the GameZone Tour page on social media.

After a long, hard-fought battle, the game came to a close with Tubig staying in the lead with 23,300 points, eventually winning and claiming his championship trophy and the ₱5 million grand prize. Bengco came in second with 22,500 points and ₱1 million, while crowd favorite Pilar Fernandez finished at 3rd with 14,200 points and took home ₱500,000.

On top of the tournament, the GameZone Tour experience created a fresh vibe through its rebrand, adding side games and booths that engaged guests by encouraging them to play to win prizes. Together with the DigiPlus Foundation, GameZone delivered community-driven initiatives throughout the day.

While the battle began, a champion was also introduced, world boxing champion and icon Manny Pacquiao has entered the GameZone as its newest brand ambassador bringing in the Ikaw ang Alas campaign amplifying the players of the tournament to become champions of the GameZone Tour 2026.

Everyone experienced the real GameZone as their skills rose throughout the tournament. The GameZone Tour: Tongits Plus Champions Cup will continue throughout the year, adding more games to the competition and more fun each season, providing entertainment for new and seasoned fans in the community.
